Thanks for the help with the pics!

I forgot to mention that it is an automatic - unfortunately my wife can t drive a manual, so I had to get something we both could drive...
But I tell ya - that car can really smoke! - today I wasn't even trying and I totally squeeled the tires!
thats what happens when you go from japaneese 4 bangers to American v8 Muscle
get PI swap and the 2 valves really love nitrous from what i hear [sm=nxsmile.gif]

I think I might be able to get away with this.....being a newbie and all, so forgive my ignorance for asking this...
but I dont know what "PI" is....

Thanks!

You can use the search option in this forum to find many posts relevant to PI swaps.

Basically, it's changing over to the 1999 and up heads, cams and intake. It's a nice dollar to horsepower improvement to the non-pi 4.6

Hey man, like everyone said, welcome.

PI = Performance improved. It refers to a change that Ford made in the 4.6 2valve engine from 96-98 to 99-04. The new edge stangs (99-04) have PI intake manifolds, cams, and heads that flow considerably better than their counterparts on the 96-98 GT's. That's why 99-04 GT's have a higher hp rating than NPI (non performance improved, 96-98) GT's have.

You can get kits from a number of places that have everything you need to put PI H/C/I on your mustang... this is called the "PI swap." You can pick up somewhere around 45 hp just from the swap. With some aftermarket cams and/or ported heads there is even more power to be had...

Cool - thanks for all the info!

Can someone give me a ballpark figure on what that PI conversion would cost - assuming that there are a few brands and vendors out there that sell the conversion kits..
Can someone point me in the direction of a place that selss a good kit!

THX!

Nice Signature - "GO BLUE"!

I am originally from MI - we have a big game today VS Ohio State!....Too bad about Bo Schembechler .... =(
