Default New Mustang Owner ?'s

When I am in 3rd gear, and am at about a steady 3000 RPMs, my rear end feels as if its going over little bumps. However the road is completely smooth. Any ideas?

Also when I am about 3000 RPMs (In any gear, and even revving it up) I hear a whisteling noise. It sounds like its either my BBK air filter, or my stick shift. Any Ideas? How can I stop this sound?

This might be out there but maybe your tires are worn unevenly?

Do you have an aftermarker throttlebody and plenum? They are known to whistle.

Nope, I only have a BBK CAI right now. Exhaust is actually laying in my room.

The bumpy ride I have no idea.

As for the whistling, you took the air silencer off when you replaced the air intake didn't you? That's what the whistling is.

um...start with the basics, double check tire pressure, when was the last time u had them balanced...push down on your car and if your car bounces alot you may have bad shocks in the rear, i doubt its axle rap...as for your whistling, take off the cover around your shifter (get one one end and give it a slight tug, toque clips) and check the grommet, if not make sure all your door seals etc are in tact and not cracked

Noises could be anything, you have a short throw shifter? transmission noise gets louder with after market shifters, is your rear end whining? maybe the previous owner had a bad installation... jack up the rear end and put it in 5th gear and see if it makes any noise... could be a number of things.

Ford trannies are noisy. I have the stock shifter and I can still hear it when I shift. You'll learn to ignore it.

Also is this normal for my year? My car in 5th gear does 60 at about 1600 RPMs. Seems like I always have to be in 4th unless I am on the highway.

Not positive on this, but all I know is that i don't use 5th inless I am going downhill or going 70+.

Sounds fine. I usually don't shift into 5th until around 70, or when just cruising down the highway at at least 60 for fuel economy.
