Default Mid-pipe? O/R vs. Catted

Im about to buy a mid-pipe for my 04' GT. I have to pass emissions so I'm leaning toward a catted pipe but only if im positive i'll pass emissions. Is their any chance that I won't pass with a catted midpipe? if their is I would just go o/r and do the old switch every 2 years.

Come on I'm sure you can find somebody to "pass" you

I don't see why you would have a problem passing with a catted pipe.

Yea... with a catted midpipe, should be no problem in getting to pass thru.

I really find this a hard question to answer tho cuz its really an opinion answer. If you have emissions and don't mind swapping in and out, and you enjoy the sound that much and don't mind the smell... then go for the O/R version. For me personally, I think I'm just gonna stay with the catted version and leave it at that. With some catbacks, you can be catted and still have plenty of sound and volume to be heard for a mile away. I think your gonna get an array of answers on this one.

I live in Georgia and there is an emissions shop at just about every gas station and mini mall in this state. Just find one with a young kid and he will prob not even look under the car to see if it has cats or not.

okay, you can either
A. get the non catted, and find somone that will take like 15-20 dollars extra and pass you.
B. get the non catted, find somone that will do it for the regular price and pass you
C. get the non catted, and get simulators or mil eliminators, or do the little spacer thing, so that your check engine lite dun come on, so you get passed "legally"
d. go with the ***** sounding catted version....

thats my opinion lol, in texas, it's easy as hell to find a shop that will either take extra and pass, or just pass cuz they like your car.
and i dont think they require the dyno emissions test, as it's relativley new, so, solong as your CEL dun come on, your fine

Most shops will be fine with you putting high flow cats on. Some however go strictly by the book & if you do not have the proper AMOUNT (same as stock mid-pipe) of cats (even if you have 2 high flow cats) they might not pass you.

Let me get this straight.. an offroad x or h pipe has NO cats, so it's probably louder than a catted one right? Catted means just that, they have high flow cats. And X pipe is more of a raspy louder sound, where as H pipe is more rumble/muscle and not as loud?

You won't have a problem with a catted pipe.

I honestly don't see alot of power difference between the catted one and the catless either (espcially with a boltons only car). The only real disadvantage is price.
