Default New Intake worth any power??

I had the all plastic intake that cracked around the t-stat housing. Ford replaced it with one that has the aluminum coolant crossover. (For free which rocked my socks). It appears to be totally different design (from my memory of the old one). My dad noticed that the engine ran smoother when I got it back. I noticed with the stock elbow, stock TB, and stock air intake, with paper filter, that it seems to have more power than it did with the old intake and bbk 75mm tb/elbow and CAI. So does it actually make more power, or am I just happy to have my car back?

Your dad probably drives it in the lower rpm range, which yes, the stock tb/plenum will provide more power during that time, (1-3 hp?) but higher in the rpms, the power should drop from when you had your mods (minus 3-6hp), just my two cents, I could be wrong. I think w/ just my exhaust, my car is slower at 1-1,700 rpms, but eh how often am I at that range, either because of a top gear or im diriving like a granny =P

Now if he did drive it like he should, and took it up to 4,500 rpms at least, and still thinks its smoother/faster, then idk.
Maybe they changed out spark plugs as well?

btw its the same design, except the aluminum crossover for coolant. the runners should be the same length/height.
