Diagnostic Help Please
2000 GT
Have a pretty serious knock coming from the #1 (front passenger-side) cylinder.
Self diagnosis has turned up the following.....
1) Only happens once the car is at, or near operating temp. (no knock when car is cold)
2) Replaced plug in #1 cylinder - knock still present
3) No noticeable knock at idle
4) Light throttle - mild knock... Heavy throttle - loud knock
5) Disconnecting #1 spark plug eliminates knock
At this point I am not sure what to check next.
Any input would be appreciated.

Do you have a coil going to hell when it reaches operating temp? Is the car down on power at all while it's got a nasty knock?
How is compression looking?

I actually have that problem right now as well, with your exact symptoms. Im just doing a rebuild because my engine has 97+ thousand on it. But they're going to rip apart the engine and see what was exactly wrong with it before they start the rebuild, so ill let you know what i find out if you dont have any luck between now and then.

I'm going to bet you have a spun rod bearing. You will end up hearing it at idle soon if it is.

+1 on the compression test, and btw the front passenger cylinder is #1 not #8
