Default P.I. Engine?

I recently found a deal on a P.I. engine for my 1997 mustang gt. (non p.i.), but im not even sure its a real pi engine. its a 1999 pi engine (so says the guy) out of a 1999 mustang gt. he says he will take $300 for everything except for the manifold, intake, and water pump. When i went to look at it, i noticed that it had a six bolt crank. To my knowledge, all P.I. motors have eight bolt cranks...does anybody know?

Not 100% on this but I think all GTs and automatic Mach1s come with the iron 6 bolt crank while the Cobras and manual Mach1s come with the forged steel 8 bolt.

if it was out of a 99 GT it was a PI. Check out the valve covers. Count the amount of bolts... 13/14 is PI and I believe 11 is NPI

96-98-romeo
99-00-windor
01-04-romeo
96-98 heads kept the hp down
99-00 new heads( air would go in like a funnel) created like 30 more whp
01-04 changed teh waterpump for some reason.

i think that's right.

not entirely....
Romeo 2V's are 6 bolt crank and Windsor 2V's are 8 bolt but not the same 8 bolt found in the Cobra.
if its a 99 then it should have the 8 bolt cast crank. If you can post pictures of the engine especially the head ports we can identify it.
