Default 3.73 Gears

Hi Everyone
I am new to this forum and new to the Mustang world.
I was planning on installing 3.73 gears in my 2002 GT then I read that the Speedometer will be throw off. Can someone tell me how to recitfy this problem and if there are any other problems changing my gears may cause me.
Thanks Jerry

Have your shop doing the gear change go into the computer and change the speedo there. The other way is to recalibrate the speedo with some type of aftermarket item...go inside the box to do it.

there is a little module thing you can buy for $100 that will fix it, the shop could prob. fix it to. not sure but you may be able to fix it with a programmer also.

you can fix it with a computer programer, or buy a speedcal from dallasmustang.com (the $100 thing)

The people who replace your gears should flash the computer for you. If not I would find someone else to do it.

Well, if you have a manual tranny (T5/T45) there is a small gear that you can replace to fix the speedo problem, I haven't done it myself but have looked into it some because I'm considering 3.73's as well. Anyhow, you can find thise speedo gear right on ebay for like $10 or so...for manual trannies only though, not sure about automatics.

Yea? You could most definitely be right...like I said, I haven't done it myself, so I don't really know for sure. Just something I saw along the way, and so cheap I guess it's worth looking into if nothing else, could be a cheap solution.

Just wondering what the typical time and installation cost is for an '06 for the 3.73 gears? wondering if I paid too much.
