Default What's the next step?

Bear with me here:

CEL came on 6 months ago, then the clutch blew.
New clutch, no CEL
CEL 1 month later
Disconnected antenna grounds, No CEL
CEL 1 week later
Pulled codes, misfiring #1
New stock plugs, gapped properly
New FRPP plug wires
No CEL
CEL 1 month later
Cleaned MAF
No CEL
CEL 2 months later
Oil & Fluid change
No CEL
CEL 3 days ago
New fuel filter
Disconnected MAF & Battery overnight
Started this morning
No CEL

It's coming back, I can feel it. Any ideas what I should check next? I'm also now getting a hard start, so i'm planning on a new fuel pump if nothing else looks like the culprit. Would the fuel pump throw the CEL? I got some good info from you all during the past 6 months, now I just wanna figure the problem out so I can deal with it. Driving with the CEL on is nerve-racking! I'm gonna have the codes pulled again when/if it comes back on, but daaaaamn! A friend of mine told me not to worry about it, that it's an "idiot light", and is easy money for service shops, but I like to take things seriously. Argh. help me out with suggestions. Thanks.

Pull the codes every time and find out what it is. It will tell you if you go to a auto zone and pull the codes

It's been ten days w/ no CEL, so I haven't had the codes pulled. I cleaned the IAC today, had the battery and alternator checked again, all is well. Got a full tank of Super, and the difference is significant. After the holidays, I think I will throw in a new fuel pump and CAI. Need some new headlights too.

You got your car on Auto Trader?

Seriously, i'm trying to get to the bottom of a couple f****** little issues here that continue to occur. Got anything better than that?
