Default $7000 Budget -Suggestions?

Looking for suggestions on what to do with my mustang. It is a 98 gt convertible with 160k on the motor. I have a budget of 7-8k in which to upgrade, but keep in mind I do not have the time to do most any work myself, so budget in money spent to the garage. What are some good options?

used 99-04 gt engine + supercharger
rebuild engine with forged internals spray a lot of nitrous

there are just a couple things you can do... with that kinda budget you can pretty much do anything

For $7,000-$8,000 I would say that would be a full PI swap, gears, exhaust, intake, and maybe even enough left over for a S/C, and of course a dyno tune. That would be me, or sell it and get something with low miles, LOL.

yeah thats what i was thinking but with that many miles i would def. think about just getting a new engine that is forged or buying a used one... you dont want to spend all that money on mods and then your engine give out on you after another 10k then you will be wishing you spent that 7k on the engine... so me personally i would do the engine first and depending on how much you had left use on the mods... good luck i wish i had 7k right now lol

Just a BIT over on the price there.

You would be lucky to get it bought and on/tuned for 6K, let alone with a built motor.

Not to mention it would still be weak on the stock heads/cams/intake.

On a NPI car, no matter what else you do, your first goal should be to get rid of the crappy heads/cams/intake as fast as possible. The NPI setups simply do not respond to aftermarket parts.

VT engnes forged shortblock w/ PI heads/cams/etc, used S/C kit from ebay, dyno tuned...should have a little left over to do your exhaust and maybe some suspension.
