Default the car won't idle yaaay

I started my car (its a 99GTvert 5 speed w/ 43000 miles) and it won't idle....it just revs up to about 1500 rpms after I turn the key, then it dies. I tried again serveral times, nothing.

If I rev it to keep it alive, it stays at the desired rpms, and it feels smooth, no chunkyness or rough movement. Is this probably the IAC? How would I clean it (carbcleaner)?

BTW this has happened before, last thursday. If it helps, the weather was cold ouside I'd say about 29 degrees F.

THANKS for any feedback!!

It sounds like the IAC for sure.

Cleaning doesn't always help.

Cool. Must be the IAC then. Thanks guys. I have another question.

The sevice engine soon light has been on since I got my MAC O/R H and the car sometimes wouldn't idle smooth (it would drop to say 200 then rev back up to normal, but it has died out a couple times) If I get a tuner (SCT probably for me) and turn off the rear O2 sensors, will this turn off the SEC (the check engine light or whatever it says) assuming nothing else is wrong wtih the car?

i doubt it. just remove the negative off of your battery and put it back on. that will reset it. if u don't have mil eliminators or a tuner to turn the 02's off it's no wonder your car is running like ****.

if the cel has been on since you put on an offroad midpipe then.. your car will go into a "safe mode" of sorts and retard the timing. you need to get either mil eliminators or preferibly a hand held flash tuner like sct (like you mentioned) or diablosport so that you can turn off the rear 02's... If the cel has only been on since the new midpipe was put on then i'm sure that is causing the cel to come on so turning them off should fix that.

The o/r mid-pipe won't be the cause of his stalling problem.

Either way, if you turn off the O2's your car will idle/run better in general.

98Cobratx, your idle issue probably isn't your IAC, IAC failures typically cause the car to stall.

Idling high while it's cold isn't anything unusual, however 1500 rpms sounds a bit high. Do your RPM's ever hang while driving? I'd look at your TPS (throttle position sensor)
