Default Supercharger Idea

Hey Guys,

wondering if anyone has ever attempted this, or knows anyone who has attempted this. A friend of mine who builds 427 Replaca Crobras is thinking of putting a supercharger from a 1990 thunderbird onto his 5.0 inside his corbra. He states that the only challange is creating (from scratch) the hardware you would need to line up the supercharger, and make sure you have room for it. Once it is lined up, then get a correct size belt, manufacture the connections you need and you off. he states the SC off of a thunderbird can only creat about 6 to 8 psi but that is enough to see a nice jump. he does not know if it would work with a 4.6. Any ideas why it would not work???

The supercharger from a super coupe is a crappy eaton roots style blower. Not worth his time at all.

Ask here http://www.sccoa.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=36 I am still a member there and those guys are really helpful. the 89-93 blowers make 11/13 lbs of boost and the 94/95's make a little more power. Plus you can get one for $100 bucks and they last over 100,000 miles.

Just wanted to mention that the Terminators, Lightnings, Roushes, Saleens, Ford GT, and the Shelby GT500 use the "crappy eaton roots style blower".

Definatly not the same one as the thunderbird though.

The tbird blower is simply not worth it. If your going to go to all the massive time and trouble of putting an eaton on your 2v GT, you might as well get a 300~ dollar cobra eaton off ebay.

Even in that case the cobra eatons are not going to make the power level of a twin screw/centri blower on your 2v. The 03/04 cobras and other above mentioned cars make alot of power with it because they start off with a much better H/C/I package and already make signficantly more power than your 2v (before FI).

Gonna go out on a limb and say even with all the bolton goodies you can't scratch 380 WHP with even a cobra blower, if that, at 8 PSI on a 2v. Its simply a inefficent blower
