Default Welding in subframes?

I am thinking of welding in my subframes while I am home this weekend, and I was wondering if any of you had done it? Did you have to remove the carpet to weld em in, or is heat not a problem?

I always at least try and losen up the carpet depending on the car and have a friend there with some water. Remember that the car needs to be supported at the wheels to simulate the weight distribution of being on the ground, I use ramps.

my friend and i did mine a couple weeks ago, the carpet didnt even get warm on my car but it would be smart to have some water or fire extinguisher. Like JD said make sure you have the car sitting on the tires or you could cause problems. You'll probably want to take a grinder to the contact points so you get a strong weld. Also just to be safe we unbolted the fuel line by the front right contact point just to give ourselves some extra room.

I did not remove carpet, but I'd have at least a fire extingusher on the stand by. If you leave the windows down when
doing it, you are gonna have a weld smell for a while in the car.
