Good Street tires??
Hey guys & gals. . .
I was just wondering what you guys thought would be a good street/drag tire for my Black 99 GT? I'm also looking to upgrade my rims and change to a better tire size. What would be a good size...? I havent really modded anything yet, but in the near future i would like to add a sc or nitrious. Thanks guys.

RE: Good Street tires??
If you're looking for drag radials type tire... you have 3 good choices..
Traction wise: Mickeys (best), BF (2nd best) and Nittos (3rd best for traction).
The downside, is that Mickeys give you the worst treadwear, then BF, and nittos have the best treadwear.
If they're your daily driver: I'd go with Nitto's or else if it rains - you're going to be sliding places, because you sure as hell won't have any traction with the Mickeys or BF's in the rain.
If you're stock with a 17x8 rim, you can go 245/45-17 or you can fit a 275/40 on there... I think the 275's are the best size rear wheel. You can always get 10.5" rear rims and get some 315/35's and give it that bigger offset that looks nasty.

This is what "I" recommend.
100% Street Driving and 0% Track Time - Any Kuhmo Tire / Summiitto
75% Street Driving and 25% Track Time - Nitto Drag Radial
50% Street Driving and 50% Track Time - BFG Drag Radials
25% Street Driving and 75% Track Time - MT Drag Radials
0% Street Driving and 100% Track Time - Slicks

RE: Good Street tires??
Kazp3 is dead on with the tire choices. I have bfg d/r's and if the roads wet it dont move. Its like ridin on ice. I put the kuhmo's on the wifes 95gt cause its her daily driver and they hold the road well in rain. My car is a weekender so it doesn't matter so long as they are dot. Im probubly a 50-50 so I guess i fit right in rbstangs graf. Mine are 295/35/18's on saleen wheels. I had nittos but they dint stick at the track but they weren't d/r's.
