Default Headers for 98GT?

My dad has a 98GT (auto 4sp) and wants me to find out:

a). What headers you recommend - long tube, wants to connect them to stock cat. If engine needs to be pulled for this, is low-restriction cat worth cost?
b). MIL - Is it worth it to run without cat?

He understands a great deal more about cars than I do, so if this doesn't make any sense I'll try to explain away any misunderstandings.

Current modifications:

Welded sub-frame connectors, pulleys, front and rear tower-tower braces, vented/sloted/drilled rotors, KYB shocks/struts, 17" Zs, K&N FIPK, tranny cooler, 50k volt MSD coils & 8.5mm wires, Diablo program, flowmaster exhaust.

Note: Crap, I can't believe the difference the Diablo made. Even with a 3.08, it still chirps the Zs in 2nd.

Default RE: Headers for 98GT?

long tubes are better than shorties, they free up alot more horsepower and sound awesome, the engine def needs to be pulled for doing this, if what ever state you live in doesnt require cats, id say screw them and get some mil's, but if your state requires them you could get pulled over for it, go to summitracing.com for headers, type in mustang at the top and just click on what you want, it will guide you through your engine, trans, etc and find whats right for you, hope this helps
