Default Blown 03 GT

My 03 GT has a procharger putting out 10 pounds of boost. Has anyone ever pushed the bottom end of a 2v over the limit? If so what did it handle before it blew. I'd like to get more out of mine but I don't want to blow it all to pieces. Any advise would be aprectiated.

Only guy on here i know that has blown his motor from... too much boost is GT_BOB, he had a Kenne Belle and he didnt realy specify his pulley, just said he put a smaller pulley on knowing it was too powerfull, i beleive it lasted a month after he put the smaller pulley on.

Before he put the smaller pulley on he dyno'd at 455 rwhp with... i dont know how much boost he had... someone else can give you more information, sorry...

FYI - as long as you have a good tune you shouldnt have a problem.

I wouldn't chance that, unless you have the $$ to replace your engine in the bank right now. My experiance is, is that these motors can run fine for a lil bit, or they can blow the first time you punch it.

I had it tuned on a dyno. It must have a good tune because I've run it hard for a year now with good luck. I was told the 2v engines were known as having "glass" rotating assemblies. Guess I'll need to beef up the bottom end before I go any further. Thanks for the advise

I definetly wouldn't push the bottom end. Just get some suspension work done and get the power to the ground.

I blew a motor lol. Re-piped my procharger with 3in then put an anderson powerpipe on (not knowing i was adding 3or4 more lbs of boost) No retune and went to track. Well first pass i stretched a piston, which in turn smacked a valve, which in fact got driven into a plug, which busted and flew around reaking havack lol. What a mess. Between the extra boost and the no tune i was doomed on that factory lower. But live and learn i guess. But now i have a forged lower. Same boost w/pi motor.

stock bottom end .... from what i've seen/heard keep it below 400whp if you wanna keep it like that forever, otherwise it's a ticking time bomb

heres my story its true no bull**** lol ive never seen a motor this bad off and still half *** run... i put 2 holes in the #4 pistons , a crack in #3, and the rings were gone on 2 other cylinders i believe it was #8 and #5 ...... all i had was my blower on 10psi non-intercooled making 406rwhp.... i was seeing 180+ intake air temps meaning 180 the lowest .i believe it was detonating from the extreme heats who knows .. the tune was awesome something like only 13* of timing 11.8 afr across the board you couldnt even hear any pinging or detonation it just happend out of the blue... this is a fluke thing ive never seen anyone else do it i guess my motor was a factory reject or something who knows but after all that it would take forever to turn over due to no compression and then start and die unless you reved it but it would puff like a diesel smoke stack so theres what happend to mine on only 10psi non-intercooled

I notice you've got cams and a meth kit. Could you tell a noticable difference when you installed these?
