damn! that sucks, wouldnt it have been burning oil like crazy if the pistons were too small?

No, the rings only have 1500 miles on them so they were still in good shape but it's amazing that the boost didn't blow them out. The pistons were too small but the rings were the right ones. The rings were in the grooves enough for the pistons to keep them there apparently.
7.9 so thats what??? like low 13's ?
It ran a 7.5 which is like a low 12 I think. That sucks for this car though, it's supposed to run in the 6s.

Yea, the pistons cost $900. If the shop owner won't take them back the car owner said he will sell them for $250. They are for a 4.6 there just standard size.

The beast is alive again. It has an appointment Tuesday at the dyno. I'm taking off work to go vid tape it. The mechanic says it should be putting down around 600 on motor. We'll find out. I'll put the vid on here Tuesday night if I'm able to take off work.

RE: STRANGE PROBLEM WITH 96 COBRA
Here's the story about the car. My friend bought it and put nitrous on it. He blew it up and had a speed shop build it. He had 6,000 in goodies put in it. Then he bought the charger and put the nitrous back on. He knew something wasn't right when it dynod 430 hp. He was told he should be in the 600 range. He had problems with eccessive blowby which we found out was due to the pistons being too small and the rings not sealing properly. Then the short timing chain that goes between the intake cam and exhaust cam on the passenger side of the engine broke. Since he was running stock cams and had dish pistons the valves that were left open didn't get hit by the pistons. The intake side was still working and let air/fuel in but the exhaust wasn't so the pressure had to go somewhere. It went past the rings and blew oil out of the pcv into the intake. There was so much oil that the plugs quite fireing and the oil got by into the exhaust. I think my friend might have been wrong about the color of the smoke. It was probably blue not white. This diagnosis was told to us by the mechanic that fixed it. It's all fixed now that my friend sank another 4,000 into it. If everything goes as planned we'll be going to the track with it next Sunday.

RE: STRANGE PROBLEM WITH 96 COBRA
Well, we got the car on the dyno yesterday but he did get to bring it home. The belt is slipping and the maf pegged. The belt is 2 in too long but it was too late to go get one by the time we figured that out. It slipped at 4300 and the maf pegged at 4700. Since the belt slipped at 4300 then it made no more power past that point. It was supposed to make 20 psi of boost but only made 11.8. It still made 401 hp at 4300. Looks like it'll be another week.[:@]
