Default Another gears question

so I have heard multiple debates about getting gears put in. I deffinatly think that they are worth it.

My question is what is affected with the gears. How much would ach affect teh MPG and how much of your top speed is affected with each gear.

I have heard a lot of the people that have went with the 3.73 that wish they would have went with the 4.1o. Basically it seems that when someone gets gears you always hear abotuhem wishing the went bigger.

if your worried bout running out of gears at the track.. you wont trust me
DONT FEAR THE GEAR !

Stock in 5th
70mph = like 2,000rpm

4.10s in 5th
70mph = like 2,300rpm

not big difference but off the line its insane

that dosent sound like it is going to hurt the MGP nor the top speed for me to even notice a difference. Either way if I was worried about MPG I would have got a ricer (lol)

so what do 4.10's do as far as the top speed? Is it only like 5 MPH off top?

according to the gear calculator...
Stock
At 5000 RPM in 5th gear, you're moving at 188.421 MPH

4.10s
At 5000 RPM in 5th gear, you're moving at 150.278 MPH

But... theres no way you can go 188 due to aerodynamics. About 38mph is taken off your top speed..

no no no no.. the gear calculator is just an estimate... it has some flaws in it...
my 4th gear tops out at about 110mph maybe a little more maybe a little less.. so you can do prob hit 130+ in 5th.. that would be my guess...

Yeah and that is pretty much why I got the Stang. I want to get to the next stoplight before anyone else so I can be first in line to wait at the red light. haha. I think my next buy is deffinalty gonna be some gears. I know a mechanic that will install for free and also let me watch and show me along the way wht he is doing.

Sob story here. I have been without my baby for over a month now. I had a thrid party bumper to bumper warrenty on her and she started making a little noise so I took her in to get looked at and had to get the tranny rebuilt. I should be getting her back this wednesday. I miss her so much. The rental im in is a Chevy Trail Blazer. Not bad for a rental but not a Mustang.
