Unless you want the car shimmying all over the road, stick with 245's or 255's.

why would it do that? Im most likely going to go with 275's but I found a good deal on some 285s

nope, I have 18x9 saleens and I was barley able to get my 285/35/18 Nitto DR tires on the back you can get a 275 on that size though you want to be careful though you don't want to have to much tire sticking past the rim because it will cause sidewall flex and youll notice more when going around sharp corners and stuff and it because more of a hazard just my experience

Well I was planning on 275/35/18 out back and 235/40/18 up front. Is that a bit too radical of a difference?

i would do 255 at least up front with a 35 profile i got 265/35 on mine and you can tell a little dif but with a 255 u will have a staggered kinda look a 235 would like to little on not right on an 18

Damn i have 285's on my 9.5" wheel and thats a good fit. Putting 285 or 275 on a 8" wheel is kinda dangerous.

A few things....
1. You won't be able to rotate them if they're directional.
2. On 8 inch wide rims, 275's are way too wide.
3. You'll have massive understeer because of way more grip in the back than the front.

Is it just the staggered look you're looking for?
