Well today i finally got my insurance price on my truck for the winter, i was very unhappy. I'm 16, just got my license a little over a month ago. So far I've been paying about $1000 for my '96 GT which I found very good price for my age and car. Now my problem is I own a 1987 chevy S10 tahoe(v6 4x4) and the insurance company is charging me the same price for that as my Mustang, anybody else here around my age experienced the same thing? I think it's outrageous they want to price me that much for that piece of crap truck.
my rant for the night i guess, just wanted to see if anyone else is going thru same thing.

If you are NOT going to drive the Mustang at all during the winter you can ask the Ins. Co. to make it a suspended policy which is dirt cheap but you can't drive it unless you call them and un-suspend the policy. Its to long to explain on here so just give them a call and explain that its put to bed for the winter, good luck.

Why dont you have your mom or dad put it under their name and put you as the "occasional driver" or "secondary driver", if you havent done that already. That saves a bunch of money. I'm 17, and my GT is under my dads name, but I'm the full time driver in reality.

its the same for the truck and the car because its liability... it has nothing to do with the vehicle you drive... it'd be completely different if u had collision on both vehicles.. you'd see the mustang probably twice as much as the truck
u guys are lucky, I have full coverage on my 96 and my 06 f150 and im paying $550 a month insurance.. up here isnt a joke for young drivers... + collision
when i get my renewal next year (license suspension) i might not even beable to get insured.
liability - no collision is $1600 a year for each vehicle on its own... that has nothing to do with my driving record.

All males under the age of 25 get screwed by insurance companies. It's profiling I tell you. The Cops aren't "allowed" to do it but insurance companies are. I say we rise up in this beeyatch and stage a G$%damned protest!

4x4's have a higher tendency of Rollovers, and the fact that they're 4x4's, people tend to take them to the limits, whether it be off-road, or in inclement weather; just like we do w/ our cars...
