Stroker and big bore kits just do not seem to be a popular mod on the 4.6L cars. Even on the better flowing 4v head setups, where you would think extra displacement would really help out, there just doesn't seem to be alot of people going that route.

I think the reason is that it simply is not that much more displacement, and the results are not that great. A big advantage of stroker kits is increasing the acutal stroke helps fill the cylinder better, but it just doesn't seem like it helps enough on the 4.6L assemblys.

I'm looking at a big bore kit...and +1 on what 2000GT said...i think why modular owners shy away from it is because we can not bore out more than so much before we run out of room, and its minimal to what OHV engines can do...
As for us mustangs, biggest engine we can swap in is a 6.8L V10 (try a big bore with that), but what doesnt require as much fabrication is a 5.4L swap...you could go old school and get a 302/351 with any variation of those stroker swaps in there...there are 427 vids in late models the vid section too

Or you could just stick with the stock 281 CI and run FI.

550+ capable with stock heads intake and 600-650 with aftermarket heads/intake on a FI application, how much more do you need?

you can go bigger but start pushing functionality of the motor. i am about to go to a stroker in mine within the nex couple mo. there is quiet a bit involved to do it. there is a lot of power to be made but you can get a great amount of power without it, plus the price stops a lot of people from doing this. nitrous and supercharging will make enough power for most

Im actually looking at a H/C/I 99 GT that has been stroked to 5.1L. I dont know how much the extra cubes helped out, but I will have it on the dyno(to be tuned for a 200 wet shot) within the next two weeks. I'll get a baseline run and see if its much differenent than others here.
