Default HELP!!Car Wont Stay Running

Ok, so i have been having a problem and this is my first post so i am hoping to get some positive feedback and maybe a few good ideas. Here is the problem. I have a 2000 Mustang GT with manaul transmission. The car is all stock except for flowmaster catbacks and a BBK cold air intake. For this set up the air filter is monuted in the fender in case that holds any significane. A couple weeks back i went to start the car and it turned ocer but immediatley shut off. Again i turned the key and the car turned over but it ran for just about two seconds before it shut off. I had to be somewhere so i started the car and kept it reved up high to keep it running. As soon as i came to a light and pushed the clutch in , the car died. It seemed kind of odd, but as long as the car was in gear, it wouldnt shut off. Even if i was doing 5 mph coming up to a light, the car would stay running. However, as soon as i pushed in the clutch to completley apply the brakes and stop the car, it would shut off. After about a 15 minute interstate drive the car would keep running. AT the particular time i had to be to a class at my university. When i came out of class it returned to not wanting to stay running. The car behaved the same way as it had before the class, and once again, after the 15 minute interstate ride home, the car seemed to be cured. The car ran fine for the next few days, but it suddenly started happening again maybe 6 or 7 days after the initial problem. This time i had time to play with the car a bit so i satyed in the car and reved it to keep it idling around 3,500 rpm. After a few minutes of playing with the gas, but not letting it die, the car would stay running but was idling horribly around 1,000 rpm. It acted like it was just about to shut off but it stayed running. Again, a bit of a drive cured the problem untill tonight on my way home from the store. The car begain its usuall problems. I have checked under the hood and all connections seem to be tight and everything seems in order. Can somone please help me.

HMM, how many miles are on it?

It could be any number of things:

Clogged fuel filter
Dirty MAF
Dirty IAC
Vaccuum Leak

I had just about the same problem a few weeks ago. After goin through and trying to find out what was wrong came to the conclussion that the Idol Air Control Vale (dont know if thats exactly what is called) was bad. Got a new one put it on and started right up. Might rip urs off and see if its gunked up.

Definitly Idle Air Control Valve. I cleaned mine up and still did it so I just replaced it and haven't had any problems since.

IAC, they are known to go bad...mine went at 70k. Its an easy fix and only about $50 at autozone or $100 at Ford.
