Don't know about your year of stang, but my 04 (TR3650 Tremec) and 4.10 gears runs 2700 rpm at 80. You might, just might have another problem, but again I could be way off as I don't know squat about the SN95's or what transmission you have.

He's taching about right for 3.73's with the T-45.. not a problem there.

Your not going to want to swap gears for better mileage.. to see a noticeable difference, you would need to drop to atleast 2.7x... or lower.. the stock 3.27's will only net you a whopping 1 - 2 mpg and thats highway.. you can actualy get better mileage in a city with the 3.73's since you can get into 5th earlier and not have to touch your throttle hardly at all... if a shop wants 650 for an install + 250 atleast for the gears/bearings your talking 900 bucks for 1mpg.. just do the math and figure out how long it would take you to make that up.

Take it to a shop. If you get gears for highway driving, you will get stomped if you ever get into a race with another stang unless its a 6
ive taken bone stock NPIs in my 6er

that really doesnnt seem right, with a t45 and 4.10s he should be taching just under 3k

I was at 3000 on the dot @80 in my cobra (same transmission)... Tire height if he put non stock size tires can make a difference.. it was only 200rpms or so below 3000 @75.. still very close.. so it sounds about right to me.
