Default Buying a GT

I am looking into buying a 2001 GT with 40,000 miles for around $12,500. Is this good or bad idea, i.e. reliability issues?

Don't know if you'll find one for that cheap but you never know...

And what do you mean reliability issues?

I bought my 2000 GT with 35,000 mi. on it and I paid $12,000. As far as reliability goes, it'll be just as reliable as any other vehicle provided it's not abused. Just don't hammer it 24/7 and it'll be fine.

I bought my 00gt with 50k on it for 9600... But I went to a dealer auction so I got an amazing deal. I worked for a Pontiac dealership as my summer job and my boss took me to the auction to pick my car out. I would have to say 12,000 is pretty good for that car, definatly not a bad price.

Like engine failure do to a lot of racing or track runs. Will I be able to put 150,000 to 200,000 on the engine?

I would say you'd be fine, just test drive it, check the fluid levels, and ask for a carfax as well. Also want to make sure it doesn't burn oil as well.

I bought mine at the end of March with 33,000 miles on it and it cost $15,500. Its a '02. I looked up the blue book on it and it was suppose to go for about $17,000 so I think I got an alright deal.
