New Diablo Predator!

RE: New Diablo Predator!
it is not going to do a whole lot on a stock car, but you can use it in the future as you add more upgrades.
You might get 5-10 WHP out of it if you have a couple boltons and a get lucky, but unless you have a a/f meter you can't really tell if your getting the tune right. The best part about a handheld is you can eventually get it custom tuned (assuming you asked around and found a local shop that can tune your diablo) and you can make changes for gear ratios etc.

RE: New Diablo Predator!
I had the Predator before I got my SCT custom tuned by Brenspeed.com.
It had the stock "canned" tune with it. Before you ask, YES you can add the 10% timing increase in the 2 rpm ranges they allow you to change. Honestly it comes with a VERY conservative tune. When you read the manual you will see it adds the 10% timing increase ONLY at WOT and it adds it to the stock timing at those rpm ranges, from 2000 to redline. Here is the issue. The Mustangs came with VERY conservative timing maps (to be able to run 87 octane) so you will add almost nothing with just the Predator. I learned the hard way myself. At 4000rpm's the stock timing asked for is 10* and brenspeed sets his 93 octane tunes at 23* at that rpm level! At 5000rpm's the stock system calls for 16* and Brent sets his tune at 24*. With the 10% added top the stock timing you will add 1* at 4K and 1.6* at 5K.
I added a Steeda Timing Adjuster to my Predator tune. Brent said to add 6-8* on top of the Predator timing! I went with 6*. So at 4K instead of 11* I had 17* of timing advance. At the 5K mark I had 23* instaed of 17.6*, just 1* away from the Brenspeed 93 octane tune.
I since went with the Brenspeed SCT which comes with 3 custom tunes for the 3 octane levels you give him along with your mods. I would wait until you have completed your mods and then sell the Predator and get the SCT with 3 custom tunes which would cost you with the Predator. You can PM me if interested in the timing adjuster as I still have it. Half price. Check it out on www.brenspeed.com under 4.6 Mustang and then "timing". Thanks Mark and welcome and good luck with the car!
