the new civics are hefty compared to the older ones, i think it may be close but weight transfer/launching i think you'll have him...no higher than 100 though

if he is making 270 horsepower to the wheels you are in trouble.

I would think even with 270 flywheel horsepower you are probably in trouble. but 270 HP out of a 7 PSI car seems like alot for a civic....

Race him from a stop if you do race him. You have a much better chance from a stop, as he is gonna spin spin spin.

I had a 96 civic for a while and they're a lot harder to launch well than my mustang is. And mine only had 127 hp at the crank, so 270 at the wheels will be impossible to launch unless he's got some serious tires. You'll be fine from a dig, from a roll it'll be a whole lot closer.

+1^...however it is easier to make bigger numbers from lower boost levels on turbos so it is possible...esp if it an Si that came with almost 200 flywheel hp...an increase of 70 from a 7 psi turbo kit is completely possible...they are heavier than the older Civics but they still have a few hundred pounds on a New Edge....also if it is an Si they have 6spds and i have no idea how they are geared off the top of my head...i'd definitely race from a stop...from a roll i'd say your toast esp if he brake-boosts...and when he gets to 7-8k rpm that thing will be SCREAMING

I dont know about the newer civics but I raced a 98 civic hatch turbo and beat him by about 2 cars. Most civic drivers cant drive their car worth a crap, I'd say you will win easily.

I'll bet he'd beat you on an English test though.
