i hit a deer
i hit a deer tuesday night it damaged the fender,headlight,bumper,and the hood. now the guestion is how much is a shaker hood compered to a stock hood? i want to work it out so insurance will pay for a shaker hood. and can i get a shaker hood for my 04 GT?

when my hood got damaged I looked into getting the mach 1 shaker hood for my GT also. If I remember right the hood cost is about the same but the ram air intake that goes with it isn't so cheap. I think it was ~850 in parts and ~1200 fully painted and installed when I got quoted. Just the regular 04 GT hood is 530 if I remember correctly. BTW, the guy at the place I got mine fixed told me that the GT's have numbered hoods so if you are selling your car it will show up as wrecked if that makes a difference. I ended up getting mine mended to keep the numbered hood.

If i'm buying a car and it has a STOCK hood that doesn't match the vehicle I'm going to be wondering how bad of an accident it was in, why it wasn't reported, etc. If it's an aftermarket hood I wouldn't worry about it.

Most of the Mustangs out there HAVE aftermarket hoods, so who cares???

Why would anyone get a shaker hood set up that DOESN'T have a Mach 1...sounds like posing to me.

well not to speak for this guy, but when I was looking into my hood situation, it was either pay $850 for the hood installed and painted then another $350 for a new intake, or pay $1200 for the shaker hood/ram air combo. Plus the shaker hood just looks cool. Poser or not, there is some justification there I think.
