Default DIABLO CHIPS for 4.6 2V

Anyone install a Diablo chip lately? The two program one...my local shop wants to do a dyno tune and install a Diablo chip...I have some modifications to the motor, plentiumn, X-Pipe and mid-length headers...they say there is another 15-25 hp in my motor with this chip and a good tune...how expensive is this process??

Thanks.

if they are talking about the chipmaster revolution, pretty expensive and not worth the money with the minor mods you have. all together, its about $650 or so. depending on what they charge hourly. i would wait till you start doing internal mods ie heads/cams,or a blower/nitrous/turbo. thats just my opinion.

With full engine bolt ons (as I stand now) my A/F was 12.1 to 1, which sucks. Easily another 15 RWHP waiting in my engine if I get a custom tune.

However I am planning something.... hahahahhaha

Do the Diablo chips for the V-8 workany better than the ones for the V-6 chips? I had one for my V-6 and the only thing it did for me was trip the check engine light.

No Idea. I do know that I did back to back runs, run 1 with the chip on (making 12.0:1) developing 256 RWHP and run 2 ( the chip off, with a hotter engine BTW) making 12.1:1 and 266 RWHP.

They promised me if I got it to 13.0:1 I would make 285 or so RWHP.

In other words, the mail order chip and the mam did not agree, and are killing me on HP.

IMO if you get a MAM, you need a custom tune. So buy the mam after you do all of the other work, and then get the car custom tuned.

I woudlnt buy the mail order chip again, because they have to send info to diablo and have them program it, then dump it in. My car is still untuned because I cannot afford to go up to st. louis all the time and keep dyno tuning it till it is right.
