Voided Warranty?

Voided Warranty?
Hey guys, quick question. Will installing an aftermarket shifter void the warranty on my trans if something happens? My car has almost 28k on the clock, and I've been getting what seems to be an early synchro problem going into 2nd, and slightly into 3rd. After the car comes to operating temps it gets smoother, but it's still a bit choppy. I've written on previous service cards for the mechanics to check for synchro problems, and they always say its fine. After installing my MGW, if my synchros do need to be replaced in the future, can Ford claim that the shifter caused my problems? Thanks in advance.

RE: Voided Warranty?
There is a TSB (Technical Service Bulletin) on the Synchro problem. It is a problem that many Tr3650's suffer from. Tell the dealer you want the TSB performed. They will install beefier synchro's. If you are under waranty, you are covered. I would not install an aftermarket shifter until you have this performed. Don't let the dealers claim that they can't fix it. They must perform the TSB if you ask them to if you are still under waranty.

Just so you don't have ANY problems why don't you just put your stock shifter back on before you go in? I have heard of nightmares where they try to screw you, don't give em a chance!!!

+1 i work at a ford dealership and if the service mgr saw that there was an aftermarket part in the area of concern they may not cover it.

Ford will not honor your warranty if you have installed any aftermarket parts. They voided mine because of the CAI, and 75mm TB and plenum. Then they saw the long tubes and it was over. After I was done throwing a hissy fit I asked the service manager about what will void the warranty and he said any aftermarket part and even showed it to me in writing.
Put your stock shifter back on.

Either way, the shifter shouldn't void the warranty, but it's easy to remove and install the stock one again. Do your best to not round off the bolts and you'll be just fine.
