Default Finally got KC clutch installed!

Well, I finally got my King Cobra clutch installed yesterday and boy is it a difference. No more throwout bearing whine. Definately recommended to anyone who wants to upgrade their clutch. $340 to have it installed with the UPR firewall adjuster and triple hook quadrant.

I think Ima need a clutch soon, what you pay for the clutch and where did you get it? Is the peddle pressure any different? I was planning on goin with a Centerforce - but thats because thats all I know -

I'm definately heading down to BG for the NMRA's. My buddies and I are staying the weekend down there.

MDVALDOSTA: Honestly it's been so long ago I can't remember what I paid for the clutch...I didn't get any kind of god deal or anything. The pedal pressure is not really any different, but the friction point definately is. Grabs a lot harder than stock, the only problem I'm having is that there is a little play in the clutch pedal because the friction point is so low but the pedal still rides in stock position. I think I 'm going to buy the pedal adjuster for $20.00, they say you can lower your pedal to be even with the brake pedal, that would be perfect.

JAYC: There are 3 of us that have Mustangs here where I live and my 4th buddy just bought one on Friday. 94 Cobra 70,000 miles. SWEET

You can get a complete Ford Racing clutch kit (not sure if it's the King Cobra) from Summit Racing for $180-$200, and you get 40% better holding power over stock. Centerforce is nice if you want to shell out the extra cash for a dual friction clutch, but that shouldn't be necessary, unless you plan on entering 500-600HP territory. McLeod makes some pretty nice clutch kits too but boy are they pricey. [:-]

I have the upgraded size Ford Racing Clutch. I think its a 13" because stock is 11.5, right? Anyways I wouldnt suggest this clutch to anyone. I have put about 15,000 miles on thi one and Im starting to get a slight over rev when I start off hard from a dig. Dont like it and I plan on buying a Centerforce soon. King Cobra's dont come in the upgraded size.

Hey. Just would like to add my .02 cents in. My 1998 GT found its King Cobra clutch about 7,000 miles ago. I would NOT recommend this clutch kit . I did at first, but not anymore.Reason i say this clutch kit, because the throw out bearing WILL make noise aftera little while. I was on cloud 9 for a while, loving my new noisey-less clutch. Then it came back. i allowed a 500 mile breakin peroid. I also installe Steeda quadrant, and adjust. cable. I installed a Centerforce dual friction on OB's car andi really like his. It has like a "helper" if you will on the fingers for the clutch so its super easy to push in. I installed the steeda quad, adjust. cable, and firewalla adjust on his car also. I wnt through www.mustangtuning.com for my clutch and didnt pay much. shipping is Free. I bought everythign through them and wa very please with service. If you really cant pay for a popular name clutch, go King Cobra, but do youre self a favor and buy another throw out bearing from someplace else.

I have all the same things that you just mentioned: triple hook clutch quadrant, firewall adjuster, and the king cobra clutch. However, I ordered a RAM throwout bearing to replace the one that came with the King Cobra. The throwout bearing with the King Cobra is the same OEM TOB that comes with a Mustang stock. Perhaps that's why you had troubles, not because of the clutch itself. The additional throwout bearing was only like $25.00 and is a lot better than the stock one.

Well when you replace a clutch you're supposed to replace the throwout bearing anyway, so if you're using the old throwout bearing with a new clutch, you shouldn't be surprised if it squeals. Buy a self-adjusting throwout bearing for about $30-$35 from your local auto parts store and call it a day.

lol. Im not sure if you didnt understand me or what. I bought the whole KC clutch kit. Im a SVT tech, specialist FORd tech and expert toyota tech. Im pretty sure i know better than to not replace my TOB. Im just saying the one that comes with the kit is ****. In another 30,000 miles i'll replace my clutch with something different.
