Assuming a car has been serviced by Ford, is it possible for any dealer to pull service history on a particular car given the VIN number or any other number on the car?

Yes... I know about CarFax.
I do CarFax as a general check before I purchase any car but I am interested in specific service information, stuff like transmission replaced, recall for that specific car and any service Ford may have done to the car etc.

BTW beating CarFax is very easy, at least in NY.

If you are involved in an accident and you *forget* to send in the State DMV form that the insurance company sends you, the accident will NOT show up on a CarFax report because CarFax gets their data from the state DMV.
Also obviously if you don't report an accident, water damage etc it won't show up either.

Additionally, unscrupulous dealers re-register lemon cars in states with known screwed up DMV agency's, get clear title and then register the car in yet another state and sell it.

Common practice and while Carfax will see the title change, you may never know the car was seriously wrecked or salvaged and put back together.

Investigative Reports did a show on this a while back about a kid who purchased a Vette that had been salvaged and the title faked like above.

The kid almost got killed when the front end fell apart and he crashed.

You can go to Ford's owners website and get a lot of info based on the VIN.

Your insurance agent can run the VIN through their system and any "reported" accidents or salvage will show. It's not Carfax but it is free and likely will give the same info.

it means either your vin was typed in incorrectly or that someone tampered with the VIN plate. Ford keeps track of EVERY vin that they sell. so its highly unlikely that its a mistake on their end. but thats just my 02.

If you want you can PM me your vin i can get you a warranty history on your vehicle at my dealer. It won't do service history since most dealers don't link together and share service history's. I will only be able to retrieve any warranty work that has been done.
