Default stock shortblock

how strong are our 4.6 shortblocks.. how long do they usually last.. the reason why i am asking is becuase my motor has 138,263 and iwant to do a PI swap.. do yall think it is safe or do yall think i should just get a PI motor...if i did decide to get the PI motor then what will i need?

Hey,

Well with 132,000 on the motor I would not just slap some heads on it. It shouldn't hurt the motor, but a rebuild is what is needed. Could be a good time to bore, or stroke, then forge the bottom end.

I personnaly wouldn't swap. everything fits now so why create issues. Rebuild the bottom end then do the heads and whatever else you want, knowing you have a nice fresh shortblock

yea im swinging towards the PI motor but dont they have the coil over system..as where the 96-98 have the external coilpack? i might be completely wrong so can somebody help... if i did go with the PI motor what will i need because i know i just cant slap it in there and go...

Your motor is old...... lol At least replace the bottom end rotating assembly.
