Lowering springs & shocks

RE: Lowering springs & shocks
you might as well replace the stockers while you have everything apart. if the stockers aren't already shot, they'll die faster once lowered, as the are out of the normal operation range.

RE: Lowering springs & shocks
Because you're reducing the suspension travel when you lower your car, the springs have a stiffer spring rate to keep you from constantly bottoming out on the bump stops. The stock shocks are not designed to work with the stiffer springs and A) will give you a less than optimum ride because they have trouble controling the rebound of the stiffer springs, and B) will wear out quicker, again becuse they are trying to control those stiffer springs. If your stock struts and shocks are in good shape you can leav them in but be prepared for them to need replacing relatively soon. As some one already said, if your stockers have some miles on them already, you might as well change them while you have it all apart now as opposed to tearing it down again in the near future.

And when you buy your new shocks make sure you get them for a lowered car. Read the fine print it will tell you if they are for lowered cars or not. The shock warranty will be void if you put a stock type shock on your lowered car.
