Ok heres the best idea yet. replace you stock fuel injectors with 42# ones. LOL and get a stronger fuel pump. JK JK

the reason i was wondering is b/c i've seen some people on here say they get 24-28mpg on the highway and i'm only getting like around 21. that's letting it shift at 2000rpm or sooner.
why would you be shifting on the freeway?

also, i think im getting about 22mpg on the freeway, with my 4.10's

just replacethe plugs, get a k&n, and call it a day

If your worried about your gas mileage go buy a honda. AS long as I get 15 or more Im happy. Other then that I dont care. (I get 15 when I drive like a banshee.)

Shift before 1700. In all city driving this has netted me in the 20s. Not anymore I seem to get on it a bit more

Enough is enough.

Not everyone who buys a Mustang wants to mod it. Not everyone wants 400 rwhp. Some just love the cars as they are and don't go to the track or street race or what have you. Give it a rest.

Insulting the guy because he wants better mileage is in no way helping anyone. He should be getting better mileage with his light mods. Did anyone consider that his budget could be limited? Maybe he fell on hard times? Maybe he's married with a kid on the way and wants to put something aside for that very expensive hobby known as children.

Can anyone here tell me honestly that IF it were possible to have 600 hp and get 28 mpg you'd pass and ask for 601 hp and 15 mpg?

If YOU don't care about mileage, fine. Some folks do. No need to beat him up over it. Personally, I calculate mine about every other fill up. I still drive however I wish, but if I started getting 21 hwy, I'd know something was amiss.

Nobody is bashing him it's just that he bought a V8, of course it's going to drink gas like a damn alcoholic. It's like buying a stock Civic and asking why it's so damn slow.

He's not complaining that Mustangs get bad mileage. He's complaining that HIS mustang's mileage is well below average. He probably just needs a simple tune up and his mileage will come up.

You are correct, all of you, that this is not a car for great mileage. Never said it was or should be. Hell, I'm overjoyed that I get 28 on the highway. Those numbers keep my wife off my *** about what I spend on mods! And like most of you, I'd rather get 20 hwy and have 300+ whp.

04BlueGT Ummm, I get 28 crusing at 75. All day long. Maybe I'm really bad at math. Nah, it was 28. When I drafted behind my wife's pickup, I got 30. 21 is a little low for highway.

Clean/replace the plugs, same for the air filter. You should be getting 25ish.
how do you get such good mileage i get know where near that even when i drive slower

The UDPs, timing adjuster, and K&N filter did it. They were my first mods and I gained 3 mpg city/2 mpg hwy. If I kept it on cruise at 65, I'd probably get 29.

You may also want to try a quality fuel injector cleaner and new fuel filter in addition to the new plugs & air filter.
