does a 99+digital cluster work on a 96-98?

Default does a 99+digital cluster work on a 96-98?

just wondering if the cluster would work because im swapping the motor so i want the cluster too?

I dont think it will. I think it has to do with the OBDI.. but dont hold me to that. I am assuming that 99+ use OBDII

96+ mustangs all have OBDII, pre 96 mustangs(or pre 94 im not completely sure on that) have OBDI

thats correct, the 96-98 are mechanical speedo etc and not compatible with the 99 up...i think you have to swap tranny's and some other stuff to use a 99-04 cluster in a 96-98.

you are doing a swap to a pi motor ok we just did this. use your harness and ecu if not the pats system will not let you start the car. The only way you can do it is swap everything you will need the igntion and key from the car the motor came out of or the pats system will not let the car start!!

so the best way to do it is use your trans and harness and get a tune it is much cheaper. or you will have to go too ford and get you key programed for that ecu. and I am not sure if the wiring behind the dash will plug into the new cluster? so maybe somone that has donethe whole swap will chime in

what is the pats system ? so i cant use the 2000 computer? and what about the coils that are differnt or they got the same plug?
