Default Low oil light

I recently gave my car an oil change. And I filled it up took about 5 and 1/2 quarts. Started her up and low oil came on? BEfore I drained the oil light was not on. And it wont go off? Is it just a bad sensor or dirty or something I don't know. Need some input.

If you only put in 5.5 quarts, add another one and the light should go off.

sensor prolly went bad . disconnect the neg. battery cable for few minutes & then see if it turns back on . trust the dipstick , not the sensor .

96 GT owners manual says to add 6 quarts to the engine with a change, it may be that you didnt top it off fully, and that is why the sensor is going off.
