Default Want to lower

I have a 2000 GT that i bought about sim monthes ago. I recently had a wreck and am going to put a new front bumper on it and some side skirts as well as a new paint job. Mosy likely going to get the original atlantic blue redone. I really want to lower the car. It has i beleve 2003 cobra wheels and 275/40/17 goodyear eagle F1 tires. Right now there is like a 2 inch gap between the tire and fender and the car looks like it floating a bit. I think lowered mustang look realy mean , but im not sure of how low i can go on my tires without rubbing or clearance problems. I would like to go atleast 1.75' . What will i need? I know spings and CC plates. Is that it? ALso, i have a lifetime alignment at the local firestone. Will they be able to align thhe car will the CC plates. Also, can the lowering be don in my garage?

Default RE: Want to lower

Hey I have a 2003 gt with 18 inch rims. I have about a 2 inch clearance too. I actually got a weight distribution kit and dropped it 2 in in the front and 1.75 in the rear. be careful with springs because you need that play in the body of your car for shifting gears if you are going to be hauling a$$. If you do go just springs when you arder the springs they send you the manual compression tool and you can do it in your garage but honestly I would look at a weight distribution kit.
