Default Grinding/rubbing

Hi guys. I'm new to the board here. After two years of modding my Ford Probe GT I decided to move up to a car with some real power (I was a regular on Probetalk.com and i have to say that this board is much better.) So i just recently picked up a 2000 GT. The only thing wrong with this beast is the rubbing/grinding sound comming from the rear end. Its hard to describe it exactly, but it a real low pitched sound that is louder when i let off the gas and coast than when im on the gas. I jacked up the car to look at the U-Joints and they both were solid with no play. I also checked the differential oil level and it is right up to the filler plug. The only thing im not sure about is when i rotated the drive shaft there was a little play there, not comming from the u-joints but inside the differential. (I wasnt sure if that was normal or not). Next weekend im going to pull the differential cover plate off, any suggestions on what to look for? Thanks guys!
