Not really. If you look at the average mustang or camaro owner (average here) it isnt a drag or track racer.

Most of the mustangs I see on the road daily are V6 driven by women/older people who have absolutly no interest in racing.

Love the V6, for it allows the V8 to continue to be sold. If there were no V6 mustangs, there would be no V8 mustangs either (at the current prices/MPG anyway)

Actually the 5.7 in the f-body gets better mpg that the GT because of rear-end gears, on the highway a GT gets 23 mpg, where a 6spd. F-body gets 30mpg. But honestly, who buy a V8 for gas mileage. And in every 5.4 I've seen, they always have problems from minor to major, whether it be burning oil, or blowing rods. I'm glad there is no 5.4 in the GT imo.

nick, the LS-1 and LT-1's have 342 gears. they turn like 1600 at 60 mph.

my 97 LT-1 with 50K got far less mpg in a 15 gallon tank turning similar RPM's than my GT does turning 2500 at 75. i can get well over 300 miles to a tank in the GT, i got that only once in the camaro. they advertised LS1's at 25 mpg, but i have ever known anyone to get anywhere near that without driving like granny. even as a head/cammed GT i do better than my LT1 did.
