Fuel economy & the smaller the engine, typically the less it cost to manufacture.
Also marketing has a lot to do with it. More people will buy GT's to cruise rather than race. A 260hp 4.6 liter engine with decent fuel economy is far more attractive as a weekend driver or a family cruise car than a 325hp 5.7 liter engine. You'll see more Mom & Pops driving the 260hp car than the 325hp car...
This is why the V6 Mustang & V6 Camaro out sold the V8 platforms.

thats right for did put that in the 2000 cobra r but it was a N/A 385 hp
