300 Horse Power
Hello, I am looking for a little advice. I have a 1998 Mustang GT 4.6L that is totally stock. I would like to up the rwhp to around 300 without going into the engine (if possible). I am hoping I get to 300 with a new exhaust system, cold air intake, and performance chip. Is this possible?
Can anyone give me any guidence on chips (or programmers) I am looking for something off the shelf, dont want to pay for dyno time at the moment.
Also any advice on exhaust systems would be appreciated, I am going to avoid changing the headers, but from there back is fair game.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

if you want loud then the lower the chamber the muffler the louder. i have some 2 chamber flowmasters on my 00 gt and removed the air silencer. it sounds "okay", except around 2k rpm there's this vibrating noise, oh well though. either go with the flowmaster or magnaflow mufflers, get some high flow cats, if you have emissions, if not get an o/r x-pipe, bassani, and some long tube headers, it will sound mean mean mean.

Don't think you can get anywhere close to 300 rwhp with just those few mods, you need to do a lot more than that to get there! Keep reading the post in this section and maybe general tech and you will find out some useful information on what you need to do to get there though!

wow!...it's gonna take alot more than that to reach 300. My suggestion is get some stage 2 pi heads and cams. then a full exausht (MUST inculde long tube headers), and a dyno tune. That should put you somewhere within 300. And as price im estimating 3,500 to 4,000.

you would be lucky to get a pre 99 GT to 300 FWHP without the PI heads, forget about 300 RWHP.

Not going get anywhere close to 300RWHP with a pre 99 motor without going into the motor.

I have pretty much a full bolt on engine and I dyno'd at 276rwhp and 325 rwtq. Get some cams and 300 is easy.

Yours = '02 GT
His = '98 GT
= NOT THE SAME! Read the post JD!
And on yours..you would have a CAM...not CAMS
