That sounds liek something I would have done to my Chevelle back in the day. Isn't stock GT exhaust already 2.5'? Check into SLP and Mac and Magnaflow for exhaust options, I dont even know if Dynomax makes a modular product? Unless your really into PoseMasters I bet your ride would love a pair of LoudMouth IIs, my $.02

i remember there being a site that you could go to and listen to the sounds of the loudmouth exhaust and some other exhausts as well, does anyone know the name of the site or have the link?

That sounds like something I would have done to my Chevelle back in the day. Isn't stock GT exhaust already 2.5'?
I believe that the exhaust from the axle back is like 1/34" or somethin stupid with 21/2 tips.

There are a FEW members here who have done the install themselves, the majority takes their cars to a shop for gears.

i took it to a shop.. and theres no whine they've been in for o 10,000 miles love em. best mod ive done to my car.
