Default Is there a performance benefit from shorty's?

Is there a point to putting on something like FRPP shorty headers or are there only gains from long tubes? I'm planning on being F/I in the near future, and just thinking if it is worth it or not. Thanks guys!

If you can install them yourself or get it done very cheap, yeah they are an excellent alternative to LT's & a matching mid-pipe.

They won't make the same numbers, but several members here made 270RWHP+ with shorties N/A with full bolt-ons.

Sometimes emissions, or just the ease of installing shorties & not having to alter/by a new mid-pipe is more feasible.

is there a considerable difference or is the difference negligable, like 5 hp?

the DYNO difference (max hp)is prob minimal, but I bet identical cars, one with LTs, one with shortys, the LTs would be alot faster at the track due to the overall power gains throughout the rpms.

Just my opinion, but there has to bea reason everyone goes LTs even though they only add a few HP over shortys on the dyno

got you...ok... the only reason i ask is because i don't want to have to swap out my x-pipe and find a different one! Damn....ok, thanks guys i appreciate it! Well, since i am on that note, who makes a nice shorty x-pipe to match with long tubes?

If the mid-pipe is the only thing holding you back...then keep saving and go with LT's.

However, if you had a $500 budget total and couldn't figure the budget increasing over time, then shorties would have been good for you.

A mid pipe for LT's is like $150. I think it cost somewhere around that for my LT MAC mid pipe. But thats non catted. . .. . . . i mean . . . .that would be illegal
