Default Lowering spring install ?

Hey guys. I'm in the middle of putting some H&R lowering springs on a 03 GT. I got the stock front springs out but I'm having some trouble puttting the H&R springs in. I'm afferied to compress the springs too much, I have them very compressed right now. If I take off the sway bar link and the steering tie rod off will the A-arm drop lower? How do I get the tie rod off? Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

First off you don't need a spring compressor. Easier to take everything apart to lower the A-arm down. Here's a link to help with the install.

http://www.mustangworld.com/ourpics/...edaspring1.htm

It's for steeda springs, but will work as a general install.

They say the new spring is shorter and goes in easy, it does not. The new spring is just as long as the stock spring. I have every thing off the A-arm except the tie rod link. The spring is compressed quite a bit and still will not fit in there.

Sounds like you didn't get the right springs if it's the same size. They should be shorter. There is 1 bolt to remove to get the tie rod link loose.Unbolt that nut and drop that A arm down. But again I'd check to make sure they sent you the right ones. Just place a jack under the a-arm and jack it back up when the spring is back in.

ALSO WATCH how you put the spring in. Make sure you put it in the same way the old one came out. By this I mean where the end of the coil was sitting on the a arm sohould go back the same way, or it'll be off and 1 side could be higher than the other, then you've got to do it all over again.

Thanks a lot. I looked up the part numbers on the springs. I wanted the "sport spring" serial number 51652. But the number on the springs is 51650. According to the H&Rs web site they are the race springs for my car. But according to Kuruma Motoring ( the company I bought them from) 51650 are sport springs for 87-93 mustangs. So I think either way they sent me the wrong thing. Any ideas?

Send them back. Call for a RMA number to return them. If they give you any grief tell them the order was sent wrong. Call them on the incorrect information on their website. Make sure you have the info to back it up if they question it. Also bring up the info on their site and copy the screen(print screen) just in case they decide to change the info and say sorry it's correct. If you know what I mean. Anyway, I'd call them and return them for the right ones you want.

You need to unbolt the sway bar link and get the lower a arm to fall. Then the new one will pop right in. No need to compress anything. But once the new one is in jack up the lower a arm and tighten everything back in place.
