Mid-pipes get leaks because it is hard to get them perfectly on the headers. I recently installed one and I think it leaks some. I couldn't get my hand on the passenger side to check at all.

I just tightened my brothers the bestI could. I dont think the leak affected the car that much power wise, especially under full throttle when the exhaust was flowing faster. Just install it, and if it makesan odd sound while under part throttle, then you probably have a leak (thats my experience). Full throttle should sound normal. My brother felt a big difference on his relatively stock car.
Thats the most I can tell you. I asked your question the other day w/o good responses...

I'd say good for you for choosing the h-pipe, like them way better then the x-pipe...moving on I don't think it's common b/c from my own experience have not encountered the problem but then again I have never used a MAC product. U should see good results either way you look at it. The only way I see it leaking is if it doesn't align correctly w/the headers. Good luck and don't worry, you'll love the sound.

RE: ok im getting the mac or h pipe
I have the mac o/r h. Mine doesnt leak at all, had it on for 4 months now. I did run into a problem when I first installed it. I tightened the bolts from the rear to the front and it leaked pretty bad. The next day i loosened all the bolts and tightened them from themanifolds working my wayback, that cured the problem and havent had any trouble with it since.
