Default slow reaction

I have a 02 gt and when I step on the gas (floor it) it has a pretty slow reaction time. I really don't know why. It is strange because it goes then stops like it is changing gears which it can not be and then it decides to go again. It will do it from any speed and I was wondering what the problem could be. I have an auto transmission and don't know if that has anything to do with it. Thanks for any responses.

Do you have traction control and does the light come on for it? It's a stretch, but I know if I'm turning onto the main road from a parking lot (from a stop making a hard right) and gas it, my traction control kicks in and makes it feel like there is something wrong with my car (loss of power). I'm not even spinning the tires at the time.

You might need to clean the butterfly valve in the throttle body. This happend in a 95 olds i have. I wouldnt think it would need it in an 02, but who knows. They can get gummed up and cause it to stick which leads to delayed acceleration.
