5 rwhp is alot for 225whp car ... esp for free... besides all of the pointless garble on here - just take it off and see what you think about it - its your car - wont hurt to try it...

If its too loud, youre too old
yeah, I guess not being able to have a conversation without screaming on the highway, getting pulled over constantly, and having your car sound like a farmall B is really great....

If you get 5 WHP out of pulling your catback I would just drop my jaw. Its not worth anything, a boltons only or mild combonation car simply is not getting enough restriction from the catback to make it matter.

The only reason you even pick up power with headers and a midpipe is the restrictive stock manifolds and the ****ty crossover that prevents scavanging. Simply increasing the size of the pipe or removing them entirly will do little or nothing on a 2v GT.

hehe - its not the same - the long tubes are a whole different sound!
I was talking about him just taking the cat-back off and running just the mid pipe. See first post. I shoulda quoted it.

No human can detect a 5 WHP difference in a car already making 225 WHP.

Take two identical cars, with identical drivers, and add 5 WHP to one and they will still be side by side all the way down the track. its an insiginifcant amount.

Plus, like I said, its going to sound like a freaking tractor.

If you loose torque, just get a torque wrench and torque everything down accordingly.

However, if you meant LOSE, it's not going to have any benefits. It's going to sound like a late 70's truck with no exhaust on it, sounding like a bogged down turd with 1,500 pounds of dirt in the bed of the truck. It's going to be so loud that when you shut it off you are going to say ah.......finally, this car has finally STFU!

Just my opinion..

I have an o/r prochamber and if i had no mufflers it would def be annoying. I can listen to music and talk normal inside the car now, and the sound is awesome. I do get drone at times but it isnt defening. Prochambers are def more raspier than other exhausts.

Ok, I have no mufflers on my 2001, and though I thought it was EXTREMELY bad *** for the first 5 mins of getting the stock Catback off. After the month that its been done already, I HATE IT! Girls always say its too loud, and I hate having to scream for the person in the back-seat to hear me. Now, I know what 90% of people on here are going to say. And trust me if I could afford it right now, I definately would get a new cat-back, even a stock one. I did feel a huge difference though, but it wasn't anything positive. I felt a loss of power in the lower RPM range, between 1500 and 2500 RPMS.

And note, the removal wasnt completely by choice. The stock catback was about to fall off. For some reason the original owner of my car, decided it would be cool to tow a jet-ski with the stang. While never realizing that if not washed right, salt water eats away at metal :-/
