Default Supercharger/High Miles ?

Basically i want some real performance out of my 00 gt. i drove my friends 04 cobra w. 492hp and i was like whoa!.... we got to talking and bolt ons will help but not with real HP gains. so he said get a blower. then i am worried about the car not being ready for one. i have 78k miles i dont want the car to blow up and me waste all that money and then not have a car. my friend said it will be fine "for awhile" not sure how long that means. like if i dont jump on the gas everytime and hall A** everywhere. mustang guys any help?

My car had 70K on it when I put on the blower, but the engine was in good conditon and well maintained by myself. Car handeled the power and made the right amount for the mods done. Basicaly....its all going to depend on how well your engine was maintained, how well you continue to maintain it, and how good your tune is.

If you don't plan on selling your car any time soon, get a used blower and properly tune it. It'll be a lot of fun. Sometime down the line you can rebuild the engine and get even more out of your blower.

I got my blower kit for 1600, bought an 80 dollar fuel pump, then 600 for SCT chip & dyno tune.. Total cost = less than $2300. Prior to the blower I had catback, midpipe, short throw, 13lb flywheel, stage 2 clutch. Car runs like a CHAMP! Except right now its sitting in my garage waiting for a new intake manifold...I have a 2000 so I had the ALL plastic manifold...even the coolant crossover, which finally cracked. So my new manifold with aluminum coolant crossover is on the way.

I understand your question but to answer it correctly you have to tell if those 78,000 miles were easy or hard.
A car that was constantly beat on and has 78,000 is different than one with 78,000 easy miles.
Either way there is a bit of wear on the internals but I would guess if those miles were easy then you still have lots of life left if you go S/C provided you do not beat on it everyday...........IMO

Nothing wrong with romping on the car, long as you aren't pushing it past its limits (redline, etc) and you do propper maintenance. Babying a car ALL the time is much much worse than romping on it now and then. I romp on my car at least once every time I drive it. Babying it like a little grandma will kill the engine from carbon buildup.
