the cobra is an excellent platform to play around with and the IRS rides alot better than the stick axle does on te street and handles alot better than the stick axle does on the race track. i would go for an 01 cobra over a 99. some of the 99s had power issues and the back bumper says "MUSTANG" instead of "COBRA" like the 01 have
Ha, ever tried it?
he was talking road course, cuz that what he is into. however on the strip the the "stick axle" (but i prefer the unofficial name of solid rear axle) performs so much better i pretty much just laugh at people who come in with "limp axles"

but dont tell David that, cuz hes pretty sure he knows what hes talking about

Even if you get all the MM goodies so it's not a sloppy mess, it's no where near "much better" than apanhard bar/torque arm, 5 link, or 3 link/watts link setup on a road course. If road courses suddenly had tons of potholes and large rocks on the surface, I might see the arguement. For as many road-racersthat switch in IRS, just as many swap it out because honestly, it's a sloppy convoluted mess.

The 01 cobra trumps the 99 cobra... unless your budget keeps you from the 01. But if your considering the 01 cobra, you need to consider the 03/04 Mach I's as they are roughly in the same price range as the 01 cobra's are. Kinda depends on what your looking to do... if you wanna stay NA, run the strip alot... then the Mach maybe your choice. If you wanna road race and do some other things, then maybe the cobra is for you. Of course either type of stang could do anything you want, but since the Mach already has the solid rear, it has the setup for a good potential strip car. Just my opinion. I would go with an 03 Mach I with around 25k-40k miles on it (if your budget allows it). You can still get those in good conditions.
