Need help with IAC
So the past two days it has been pouring down rain, which may contribute to the problem. But anyways earlier tonight my car would come close to dying while coasting to a stop. When stopped the idle is very iradect, it will bounce between 400 and 900 rpms, but slowly it will stay at each for about 4 seconds. Reading on this site I found out that the IAC may be to blame but I have already cleaned it but didnt really give it a thorough cleansing. My question is can I spray carb cleaner straight into it where it connects to the manifold, or should I only spray the part of the IAC that I can remove from the manifold? With all this talk about cracking manifolds I am a little scared of getting any where near it.If this doesnt work should I just buy a new one? I really dont want to drop $50+ On a new one. Do you guys think that the IAC is for sure what is causing this?

RE: Need help with IAC
You need to take it off the car. It takes like 2 min to take it off. All you have to do is unscrew the 2 8mm screws and pull off the vaccuum line. Just spray carb cleaner everywhere it looks black. Make sure not to lose or damage the gasket.

i had a friends explorer do the same thing. we sprayed and cleaned the IAC as best we could and it still acted funny. it got better, but still wasnt working right. he went home and replaced it and everything is OK.
spend the $50 and you wont have to worry about it for a while
