Default 88GT vs 2kGT

both cars have the following mods, flowmaster exhaust, K&N filters, No Air Silencers and rear seat delete kits. They are both 5 speeds and both drivers can operate a clutch. who would be the winner?

very easy....the 2000 GT no doubt

just think about it...if the 2 people drive exact same then all it comes down to is #'s....the 00 GT makes 260 HP...

the 2000 will without a doubt beat the 88. Same mods still give the 2000 the advantage and I think DILO is right, the 2K stock will win too.

If the 2000 wins it wouldnt be buy very much. My stock 88 lx has beaten every 99+ stock or even modified newer GT. Sure its makes 35 more flywheel hp but it also weights a little more. 5.0 explode with minor mods even exhaust. To be honest i havent seen 1 new GT break into 13s.. I have seen MDs but im talking live at the track. I have beaten every newer GT i have ran or compared e.t. from track. Even my 91 GT vert ran 14.6 @ 98 mph!! Most 99+ i have seen been about 14.5 to 15.5. So you cant really say that the 88 will get its butt handed to him cause in stock trim my LX ran 14.0 and best mph 102 mph. When i say stock i mean AC,SMOG pump etc. So i will be first to disagree and i have plenty of video to back it up. Also matter of fact since i have modded my LX im smoking stock mach1s. So when i get some tires the 12s wont be a issue all this on all motor and half the price it would cost a newer GT. i hoped this helped. And good luck on either side.

people like you is the reason i started this poll.
there was one kid who had a modded out 88gt, "outran a crotch rocket" he says. he also says "i saw the needle was gone but i kept pulling, it was pulling slow but it was, when my buddies and i stopped i asked and scott said he was going 170 and i was pulling, ofcourse i blew my injectors but i still did it" quote from this kid.
this poll exists bc of those foxbody 'stories'.

If your only seeing 14.5s to 15.5s (15.5!!!) you are seeing people that cannot drive.

I have a couple of guys at work talking about running 14.0s stock back in the day, but not one of em has a timeslip, and then they start saying, "well, it was with different size and type tires, a shortbelt, filter, mufflers" That is not stock.

Besides, we are talking a GT here, not a LX. The LX weighs a ton less, espically if you are talking about a notchback and not a hatch. The only Foxbody I have ever heard of really running 14.0s stock was a cobra model. It MIGHT be possible with a notchback LX stripped down for wieght and some sticky tires.

And BTW when you say "5.0 explode with minor mods even exhaust" what are you talking about here. Because I have yet to see any (non cobra) 5.0 with boltons only (and drag radials) run a 13.0 flat.

I like the foxbodys, dont get me wrong, but im pretty sick of every fox owner out there with exaust and intake claiming they run 12.5s.

Giving that you are equal drivers, you could pop your front tires and still beat it.
